By Kevin Cuddihy The Spring Training Poker Championship included a Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament as well as blackjack and craps tables. The Texas Hold ‘Em winner received an engraved Champions watch, while winners at the gaming tables received raffle tickets for a number of gift certificates donated as prizes. Alison Jenks ended up walking away with the engraved watch, thanks apparently to a great bit of beginner’s luck. “Alison Jenks, who was the 1st place winner in the poker tournament,” explained Deanna Reynolds, “had NEVER played before! So here she was, at the final table of all men, and she ends up winning!” The real winners, of course, are the kids that the funds raised will allow UMPS CARE Charities to serve. Those funds will help the umpires continue enriching the lives of at-risk youth and children coping with serious illness by providing memorable baseball experiences, supporting pediatric medical care, and raising awareness for foster care children waiting to be adopted. In addition to all the attendees, Deanna Reynolds and UMPS CARE Charities wants to send thanks along to Dan from A Casino 2 You for donating his time and equipment and providing a first class casino night experience; Ray Di Muro and George Collette from Your Source Financial for providing the beautiful venue; and David Bauer of David Bauer Occasions for providing the delicious food that helped create a special evening. Plans are already underway for next year, so start practicing your poker face! |
