UMPS CARE Charities is proud to announce that our All-Star College Scholarship application is now live and available for students who were adopted later in life (13 or older). UMPS CARE distributes about $40,000 annually to help adopted children defray the cost of attending college.
The program is more than simply providing a check to a student. Our umpires, their spouses and partners and our UMPS CARE staff serve as mentors to help guide each student through the college process and help ensure lifelong success. The goal is for each student to graduate but also appreciate the importance of giving back.
This year we are naming the 2020 All-Star College Scholarship in honor of Major League Baseball umpire Eric Cooper, who passed away in October. This scholarship, which truly changes the lives of the recipients, will serve as living legacy in his memory.
