UMPS CARE Charities is thrilled to announce that ESPN’s MLB reporter Pedro Gomez will emcee our 2020 Golf Classic post-event banquet on Saturday, January 25th!

The UMPS CARE Golf Classic, our signature event featuring many active and retired MLB umpires, will be held at the Legacy Golf Club in Phoenix. The event is sold out but there are limited tickets available for the post-event banquet and some sponsorship opportunities remaining. For banquet ticket and sponsorship information, click here

A sports reporter for more than 35 years, Pedro Gomez has been working at ESPN for 17 years. Pedro has covered 25 World Series, his first being when the Reds beat Oakland in 1990. He is a member of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America and is a voting member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Pedro was born just three weeks after his parents arrived from Cuba as refugees. His maternal grandfather arrived a few years later and Pedro’s love of baseball began immediately. Pedro’s grandfather was an umpire in the Cuban winter league in Camaguey. He has been married to Sandi for 28 years and they have three children, his oldest, Rio, a minor league pitcher in the Boston Red Sox system. His other two children, Dante and Sierra, are currently enrolled at Arizona State University.

All of us at UMPS CARE Charities are delighted to have Pedro as our guest for this event!
