In the middle of a pandemic and concern over health and well being, Major League Baseball umpire have taken it upon themselves to continue to give back through UMPS CARE Charities.
This dedicated group have taken time out to participate in Zoom chats with underserved youth, critically ill kids, foster children and military families to talk baseball and give them insight into what it takes to become an umpire. They also have continued to deliver Build-A-Bear Workshop experiences to kids undergoing rigorous medical treatment at hospitals across the country. Kids who are more isolated than ever before are feeling love and are able to smile. They also are providing college scholarships to children adopted later in life – children whose families did not have years to save for their education. This program truly saves lives.
They have been showing their support from ballparks across the country – from San Diego to Minneapolis to Pittsburgh – and even in Buffalo, N.Y., the 2020 home of the Toronto Blue Jays. Check out their photos on our social media platforms!
